Facebook has announced a new look for their Messenger platform, including some new features to coincide with the recent integration of Instagram Direct and Messenger.
Some of the new features include; Rooms, collaborative video viewing, a customisable emoji response bar, new personalised stickers and colour gradients in threads. The main change is the new Messenger logo, which is getting a colourful facelift, signifying to users that the app is also compatible with Instagram, and symbolising the parent company’s strategy to evolve the platform beyond text exchanges.
As explained by Facebook:
“Today, Messenger gets a new look to mark our continued evolution from a simple way to message your Facebook friends, to a place to hang out with your favourite people, on your favourite apps and devices. Our new logo reflects a shift to the future of messaging, a more dynamic, fun, and integrated way to stay connected to the people you’re close to.”
Facebook has also added new chat themes, “like love and tie-dye”, which are essentially custom backgrounds for your chats.
“10 million people customise their conversations every day so we know that personalisation is important when it comes to how you connect. Together with new delight features like selfie stickers and vanish mode that are coming soon, making your chats fun and personalised has never been easier.”
