If you haven’t been putting any festive messages out on social media yet – why not?! Christmas and New Year are some of the busiest times of the year for businesses, with many reaching peak sales/bookings through social. It’s also a great time for showing a more fun, creative side to your brand, showing your customers what’s going on behind the scenes.
We’ve put together a handy checklist for brands to help them make the most of their social over the holidays…
? Special delivery! ?
First things first, if you sell a product or service that can still be delivered in time for Christmas, make sure you’re promoting that! If you’re experiencing any delays with getting orders out, it’s good to be transparent about this. Similarly, you should make it clear when your last order dates are for guaranteed Christmas delivery and re-share positive testimonials from happy customers!
? Out of office… ?
Make sure you’ve let your customers know your opening hours, and if you’ll be closing down at all over the festive period. It’s also a good idea to set up Automatic Responses on Facebook to let people know you won’t be getting back to them straight away. This will make sure that your response time doesn’t drop.
? Getting into the spirit of things… ?
It’s always a good idea to show your followers your personality! Christmas Jumper Day, Secret Santa and Christmas parties (if you’re on your best behaviour) are all really fun things to post about on your social. If they’re happy for you to do so, tag the team and get them to share the posts.
Get creative! Why not do some holiday-related polls on Instagram Stories/Twitter, or if you’re handy with Photoshop, create a fun graphic to share. It’s always nice to put out a Christmas/New Year’s message from your company too. Schedule this in advance on Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve.
? New Year, New Strategy? ?
Finally, it’s a good idea to take stock of your social channels around this time. Have a look at what you’ve done well this year and what could be improved. Think about any ad campaigns or competitions you might want to run next year and put together a 2020 social media strategy.
