Easter is fast approaching, so if you haven’t already, now is the time to start thinking about how you’ll be wishing your audience a Happy Easter.

It’s always good to give yourself a bit of time before a holiday to prepare your social media campaigns. After all, you want to make sure your posts are well–planned and crafted to get the exposure they deserve.

As a business owner, planning out your marketing campaigns in advance helps your posts get more likes, comments, shares and most importantly removes that last minute panic over what to post on the day. Our creative juices never always flow when we want them to, so make sure you’re well prepared ahead of time.

Here are some Easter social media post ideas your business can use this season.

1. Create a Competition

Get your audience involved in a competition that relates to your business. For example, you could run an egg decorating contest and give away a prize to the follower that paints the most beautiful eggs. Or, if you run a small business such as a bakery or creating cupcakes, ask your audience to come up with a new flavour and design for an Easter-themed cupcake.

Whatever style of competition you choose for the Easter weekend, make sure you share pictures on your social media, and tag the winner. This is also create for user-generated content and keeping your followers incentivised.

2. Run a Giveaway

Giveaways might seem complicated, but they’re actually one of the easiest Easter social post ideas you can do. These posts are also perfect for growing your following and getting people engaged with your business. So how could you go about it?

One easy way is to run a “follow and tag your friends” campaign where people enter by, you guessed it, following your account and tagging their friends.

Then, you select a winner either randomly or based on how many of their friends also follow and tag other people. The details are up to you, but this is a great way of boosting your followers organically and spreading the word of your business.

3. Encourage user-generated content

Why not have your users create your posts for you?! Holidays are a time when people get together to share their joy, so it’s only natural for your social media to reflect this – so get your audience involved in some fun social media activities.

An easy and fun way is to have people use a special hashtag when sharing photos, videos and comments of their Easter preparations and activities. You can also use a brand-specific hashtag campaign to boost brand awareness.

For example, a previous year, Hotel Chocolat encouraged their customers and audience to take a selfie with their Easter mascot, The Beau Bunny, as it toured around 39 UK stores.

Hotel Chocolat then had their audience use the hashtag #TheBeauBunny to promote the campaign and source images to share across their social media. Egg-cellent work!

4. Design and share Easter templates

Another great social media post idea for Easter is to design a template that your followers can use. All they’ll need to do is take a screenshot of the template, add their own responses and share it to their Stories.

You can even use tools like Canva to create your own branded template to help increase awareness about your product or service.

When people use your template, your brand and social media handle will get shared with it. An excellent way to grow your following!

5. Host an egg hunt

This one is more elaborate but can be so much fun! Egg hunts are engaging and perfect for kids as well as adults. You can either have the egg hunt inside your business (if your business is a nursery, for example) or in the area around your premises. Post on social media and invite people to join and offer an amazing prize to motivate them to play along. You could also hide an Easter egg on your website and offer giveaway incentives for people to find the hidden egg and share on their stories with their findings.

If you want, why not host an event after the egg hunt to bring people together and celebrate Easter!
