Last week, we announced that we’ve joined Offset Earth – a subscription service that uses investment to fund climate projects that reduce atmospheric CO₂ levels and plant trees.

Each month, they pick the best CO₂ reduction projects with Gold Standard certification. This ensures that the money is making the most impact! This month, our money has gone towards improving household stoves in Eritrea and installing wind turbines in Hatay. Both projects will reduce huge amounts of carbon emissions in Turkey. We’ve already reduced a total of 5.84 tonnes of carbon through our subscription. That’s equivalent to 14, 278 miles driven in an average car or 370 days of home electricity usage!

Offset Earth also use the money to fund the non-profit Eden Reforestation Projects. This month, we’re funding reforestation in Madagascar. More than 90% of Madagascar’s original forests have been destroyed, affecting animal species and the livelihoods of the Malagasy people.

So far, we’ve planted 110 mangrove trees out there. These trees capture up to four times as much carbon per acre than tropical rainforests and 75% of tropical fish rely on their root systems for nurseries and shelter. The project is also creating work for local communities.
